MBABANE:Mangaliso Mohammed,the United Nations Development Program(UNDP)Eswatini Sustainable Development Specialist has called for decisive practical action to tackle the effects of climate through environmental preservation among others.
Addressing journalists during an environmental preservation workshop held at Sibebe Resort-Mbabane this week,the UNDP Sustainable Development Specialist emphasized the urgency with regards to the importance of environmental protection to mitigate climate change.
Mohammed said the Global Climate Tracker shows that,with the current worldwide climate policies and actions,the planet “is on course for a 2.6 degrees Celsius temperature rise” underscoring the urgent need for decisive climate action.
“The Global Climate Tracker indicates that, given the current climate policies and actions of countries worldwide, the planet is on a path to experience a temperature rise of 2.6 degrees Celsius. This dire forecast highlights the critical need for more decisive and immediate climate action, with Eswatini ready to set a leading example,”said the UNDP Sustainable Development Specialist.
